Ever hear the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"? My grandma used to say that all the time along with "can't never did anything"!
How about when people say "I can't afford to buy marketing tools." "I can't afford to go to the convention." "I can't afford the autoship." "I'll buy the tools when I'm making money."
One of my favorite industry trainers is Dani Johnson. The first time I listened to Dani I heard her say "excuses are nothing but well planned lies!" My grandma and Dani would get along great!
When people say things like "I can't do it the way you guys are doing it because I can't afford to do what you're doing, even though what you're doing is working, so I'll just do it MY way", all they end up doing is wasting valuable time trying to reinvent a wheel that's already been proven to work!
It's almost like trying to stick a square peg into a round hole! It just won't go in! The harder you try the more frustrated you become!
Can you imagine reinventing the telephone?
We already have the telephone and yes it's been improved upon hasn't it? I mean we have cordless phones, cell phones, picture phones, speaker phones, phones that send email, but do we need to reinvent the ACTUAL phone?
Why would we want to fix something that isn't broke?
That's what some people try to do when they come into Network Marketing, see the system people are using and then try to REINVENT one for themselves.
Sometimes too, people come into Network Marketing with a lot of experience and success in other industries. Perhaps they are a sales person and have done very well for themselves in this field. In sales that's just it, you are working for YOURSELF.
People come into Network Marketing with this sort of experience and success and then try and reinvent the wheel by using the sales experience and training they've received throughout the years and it can sometimes backfire on them in Network Marketing.
Why?
Because most people are not sales people! Most people don't have this sort of training and background.
In fact, most people hate selling and don't like being sold to or even want you to hint to them that they have to sell something.
People that come from a selling field, don't realize how important it is to be able to multiply or duplicate yourself and in order to do this, other people must want to do what you do! In other words, give them a proven system that they can follow to become successful too!
In Network Marketing the most important thing for you to be able to accomplish is LEVERAGE! You don't have to do it all by YOURSELF! You don't want to be the ONLY one doing all the work do you?
Of course you don't!
The people who follow a PROVEN system will be successful. The ones who don't will flounder and keep wondering how come this thing isn't working?
Well, it's most likely because they are trying to REINVENT a whole new system.
This is the best way to snuff out your success in this business!
Especially when there are people who are already very successful using a PROVEN system!
The best thing to do is follow them! Do what they do and best of all do it BETTER! Not reinvent a whole new system but take the one that's working and do it even BETTER!
The better you are at following a proven system and teaching others to do the same, the more successful you will become in Network Marketing!
Recommendation...........
Forget YOUR system! All you'll end up doing is wasting time trying to reinvent one!
Be the BEST at following a proven system!
Keep IMPROVING on the one that's already WORKING for the people that are successful using it!
Stop saying "I Can't" and start saying "I WILL"!

Your Money Doesn't Have the Power...
YOU Do!!!

Have you ever heard yourself or one of your associates saying, in response to some opportunity, something like "I'd love to do that but I don't have the money" or "If only I had more money, then I'd be able to do it" or "When I'm making $XXX, then I can do things like that"? As a result, you and/or your associate may not buy some tapes or register for a workshop or hire a coach - even though those actions may be exactly what would support you to break through your "money challenges."
While it may be a fact that you may not have XXX amount of money at any given time in your life, my real concern - and the real source of scarcity - is that this type of thinking reveals the subtle and not-so-subtle ways you may be giving your power away to money! And if you give your power away to money, then you'll never have power over money or, for that matter, over your life! And that's true scarcity!
In the past six years, hundreds of people have asked me what I mean by "scarcity". Contrary to popular thinking, making only a certain amount of money or being in a lot of debt does not, for me, automatically imply scarcity. The amount of money you are currently making or the amount of debt you have is simply a fact describing your current financial situation. The more important question (in terms of abundance) is "what is your relationship to your current financial situation - is it an empowered or a disempowered one?"
You see, the definition of "scarcity" that I teach in the programs I have developed is this:
Scarcity is a disempowering reaction (conscious or subconscious) a person makes to perceived or actual limitations. The majority of limitations are perceived and this perception of limitation is "rooted" in the thought or belief that something is 'not enough'"
In my experience, it is our perception of "not enough" and limitation that robs us of our power - especially around money! This disempowering perception of "not enough" and limitation robs us of possibilities, creativity, passion and the opportunity to learn, grow and expand.
Think about it. How effective is a 5-watt light bulb at lighting a dark room compared to a 100-watt bulb? Well - if you're operating at a "power level" of only "5 watts" around money - how effective are you going to be at getting out of debt, making money, building a business and achieving financial freedom and abundance?
Despite this, many of the initial responses (or shall I say "reactions"?) I hear to my definition of scarcity begin with words like "Yeah, but… I really don't have the money" or "If I had the money, then I really would do this or that."
So - time for the acid test when it comes to money and reclaiming your power from it. The following is a "visualization" I have used in my programs to have people really understand that our limitations around money do not need to have power over us.
For this "visualization", I'd like you to imagine someone you love more than anyone else in the world - preferably a child. If you're a parent - think of one of your children. If you're not a parent, imagine a niece or nephew or godchild whom you love dearly. Child or adult, make sure you are thinking of someone you love more than anything.
Now - imagine that your phone rings right as you finish reading this article. You answer it and are horrified to find out that your loved one has been severely injured and has just been rushed to the nearest regional trauma center.
Needless to say - you're out the door en route to the hospital yourself. When you get there, the doctors take you aside and tell you that it doesn't look good. In fact, they tell you that there is only one chance for your loved one to survive and that's an experimental procedure or drug that will cost $2,000 - $5,000. The doctors are pretty confident that this procedure or drug will work. They're also equally confident that, without it, your loved one will die in less than 24 hours.
The only chance is this experimental drug or procedure which will not be covered by insurance and for which you need to pay, up front and in full, before they will begin.
In that situation, would your response be "I'd really love to be able to do that but I just don't have enough money?" Or - would you instantly and automatically know that you would do whatever it took to come up with that $2,000 - $5,000 so that your loved one could live?
I'm going to bet your loved one will not die - even if, prior to receiving the phone call, you may have been thinking of all the things you'd like to do but couldn't because you didn't have the money". Do you agree?
The facts of your financial situation hadn't changed but, when faced with the possible death of a loved one, you reclaimed your power in terms of money and suddenly became willing to do whatever was necessary to get the money you needed. You were no longer willing to let money stand between you and what was important to you.
Now - here's my challenge" If your business or your life is not as abundant as you'd like it to be because you “just don't have the money", maybe it's time to think of yourself and your life as being in "critical care".
Instead of using money or your perception of limitations as an excuse to stay in scarcity, start doing whatever it takes to "live". Get into action, learn something new, be creative, explore possibilities, try an "experimental procedure" and reclaim your power around money.

Given that, consider this story of an interview a business consultant conducted with Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's. In the interview, the consultant asked Mr. Kroc the simple question, "What business are you in?"
You see, the business consultant wanted to know if Mr. Kroc thought he was in the restaurant or fast food or service or hamburger business. Imagine his surprise when Mr. Kroc's answer was "thereal estate business"!
Mr. Kroc went on to explain that the business on which he needed to concentrate and become masterful was real estate because it made the biggest difference in terms of his success.
You see, he knew that if he was able to identify a good piece of property in a good location and negotiate a good price for it - among other things, his restaurant would succeed. The training, systems and products of a McDonald's restaurants guaranteed that. However, if he was not masterful at real estate and built a restaurant on a poor piece of property (e.g., poor location, overpriced), it would not succeed.
The training, systems, products and restaurants are the exact same either way - the only difference in terms of success and the number of hamburgers sold was the real estate on which the restaurant was located.
The other reason Ray Kroc considered real estate to be his primary business was because real estate was his source of residual income!
Why?
Because when someone purchased a McDonald's franchise, he purchased the right to use the McDonald's name and all the products, systems and training created by McDonald's. The franchisee did not, however, purchase the property on which the restaurant was built. That property was leased to the franchisee by Mr. Kroc - thus creating an ongoing residual income!
So - Ray Kroc was in the real estate business-and he sold A LOT of hamburgers!
Given that, if you'd like to sell as many of your products as he sold hamburgers, it's important that you make a similar shift.
Instead of thinking that your business is that of health products or long distance service or telecommunications or even networking, you need to realize that there's an underlying (even primary) business for you to master and upon which your success depends.
So - what is the "real estate" business on which you need to concentrate and master?
In simple terms, it's what I call the transformation business!!!
Let me explain.
First, consider the biblical expression that says "You can't pour new wine into old wineskins." You see, in biblical times - before the advent of wine bottles - to pour some new wine into old wineskins would cause the wine to spoil and, eventually, the wineskin to rot and burst.
Next, consider a principle T. Harv Eker teaches in his weekend workshops. This principle, called "The Process of Manifestation", states that the process of manifesting results begins with a thought. This thought(s) produces a certain feeling(s) and the combination of this thought(s) and feeling(s) leads to and influences our action(s). Ultimately, it is our actions that create our results.
Now, let's juxtapose the idea of "pouring new wine into old wineskins" with "The Process of Manifestation."
If you want to have different and more abundant results then it is clear that your actions will need to change. However, if your only focus is on taking new actions it won't work… because your thoughts & feelings haven't changed.
To simply take new actions without transforming your thoughts & feelings is like trying to pour new wine into old wineskins! It will spoil the impact of the new actions!
You may try a new technique or leads list or autoreply or script. You may try a new product or training system or even a new company. However, all of this "new" and "abundant" wine will quickly spoil if placed in a "wineskin" that is laced with scarcity thoughts, feelings and beliefs!
That's what I mean by saying that, as a networker, your real business is the transformation business!
Success in your networking business requires more than good products, systems and training, e.g. a "restaurant." As with McDonald's, the "location" upon which your "restaurant" is built is what will make the biggest difference - in terms of results, success and abundance.
You see, the transformation business is one that requires you to become masterful at empowering people, especially yourself, to grow, to learn, to participate fully and to be in consistent action toward their dreams. It requires that you become masterful at transforming scarcity limitations and blocks into openings and possibilities for abundance. It recognizes the necessity of reconditioning "old wineskins" laced with scarcity thoughts, feelings and patterns - and transforming them into ones that support abundance at all levels.
Look at it this way.
If, just like Ray Kroc did with real estate, you take the steps necessary to become masterful at the transformation business - and you combine that with a good company, product, system and tools that are a "fit" for you, then you cannot help but have transformational, abundant AND residual results!
In other words, you'll be able to sell a lot of "hamburgers".
How's that for abundance?

Be a Person Who Practices Non-Situational Integrity

Integrity, a standard of personal morality and ethics, is not relative to the situation you happen to find yourself in and doesn't sell out to expediency. Its short supply is getting even shorter, but without it, leadership is a facade. Learning to see through exteriors is a critical development in the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Sadly, most people continue to be taken in by big talk and media popularity, flashy or bizarre looks, and expensive possessions. They move through most of their years convinced that the externals are what count, and are thus doomed to live shallow lives. Men and women who rely on their looks or status to feel good about themselves inevitably do everything they can to enhance the impression they make - and do correspondingly little to develop their inner value and personal growth. The paradox is that the people who try hardest to impress are often the least impressive. Puffing to appear powerful is an attempt to hide insecurity.
In the Roman Empires' final corrupt years, status was conveyed by the number of carved statues of the gods displayed in people's courtyards. As in every business, the Roman statue industry had good and bad sculptors and merchants. As the empire became ever more greedy and narcissistic, the bad got away with as much as they could. Sculptors became adept at using wax to hide cracks and chips in marble and most people couldn't discern the difference in quality.
Statues began to weep or melt under the scrutiny of sunlight or heat in foyers. For statues of authentic fine quality, carved by reputable artists, people had to go to the artisan marketplace in the Roman Quad and look for booths with signs declaring sine cera, which translates in English to mean, without wax.
We, too, look for the real thing in friends, products, and services. In people, we value sincerity, from the words, sine cera, more than almost any other virtue. We expect it from our leaders, which we are not getting in our political, media, business and sports' heroes for the most part. We must demand it of ourselves.
Integrity that strengthens an inner value system is the real human bottom line. Commitment to a life of integrity in every situation demonstrates that your word is more valuable than a surety bond. It means you don't base your decisions on being politically correct. You do what's right, not fashionable. You know that truth is absolute, not a device for manipulating others. And you win in the long run, when the stakes are highest.
If I were writing a single commandment for leadership it would be, "You shall conduct yourself in such a manner as to set an example worthy of imitation by your children and subordinates." In simpler terms, if they shouldn't be doing it, neither should you. I told my kids, "clean up your room," and they inspected the condition of my garage. I told them that honesty was our family's greatest virtue, and they commented on the radar detector I had installed in my car. When I told them about the vices of drinking and wild parties, they watched from the upstairs balcony, the way our guests behaved at our adult functions.
It's too bad some of our political and business leaders don't understand that, "What you are speaks so loudly that no one really pays attention to what you say." But it is even more true that if what you are matches what you say, your life will speak forcefully indeed.
It's hardly a secret that learning ethical standards begins at home. A child's first inklings of a sense of right and wrong come from almost imperceptible signals received long before he or she reaches the age of rational thought about morality. Maybe you're asking yourself what kind of model you are for future generations, remembering that people are either honest or dishonest, that integrity is all or nothing, and that children can't be fooled in such basic matters. They learn by example.
To remind myself of my responsibility to live without wax, with sincerity and integrity, I took the liberty of re-writing Edgar A. Guest's poem, "Sermons We See", to apply to setting an example as a real winner for my children and grandchildren.
I'd rather watch a winner, than hear one any day.
I'd rather have one walk with me, than merely show the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear.
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.
And the best of all the coaches are the ones who live their deeds.
For to see the truth in action is what everybody needs.
I can soon learn how to do it, if you'll let me see it done.
And the lectures you deliver may be very wise and true.
But, I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do.
For I may misunderstand you and the high advice you give.
But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.
I'd rather watch a winner, than hear one any day.
Hey, politician, business leader, motion picture producer, television actor, rock star, sports star. Hey mom, hey dad. Don't tell me how to live. Show me by your actions. You're my role models.
Action Idea: When you talk to others, beginning right now, don't try to impress them by talking about your accomplishments. Let your actions speak for you. Ask more questions....
